Success Through College and Beyond: Promoting Multimodal Writing Transfer with Infographics

This paper is part of an ongoing research project on the affordances of infographics in the context of First-Year Composition. Using qualitative research methods such as written reflections and a structured interview, the researcher claims that infographics can help students enhance their multimodal composing skills. While working with infographics, students can learn how to (1) formulate a thesis, support, and purpose, (2) find the balance between different modes, and (3) ensure readability and accessibility of their message–the skills that students can potentially transfer to other multimodal genres.
